THE "SCHOOL-BERG"

EMPLOYEE CONTRACTS - We respect and support the teachers and other school employees of our community. However, the benefits that have been negotiated in the past, for whatever reason, are excessive and not sustainable. If teachers and other school employees feel maligned, that is not because the public has begun to raise questions about their contracts. In truth, the patience of citizens is wearing thin because of the positions taken by the union leaders – especially their inflexible opposition to reducing excessive entitlements, and their refusal to think about shifting spending to better help students. It is this inflexibility that gives the public a false impression about them: that they care mostly about salary and benefits, rather than helping the students. Moreover, the public is tired of seeing citizens maligned by union leaders for trying to raise perfectly valid and civic-minded questions about how public dollars are being spent. We need a serious discussion about how to improve our schools, and reorient the focus to students, with ALL the stakeholders taking part. We urge school employees’ union leaders to join in that discussion constructively and positively, instead of reflexively opposing it!

Background: Waste and mismanagement has run rampant under the auspices of Dennis Maloney, the current Superintendent of the E.I. School District. He has single handedly brought the community to its knees with a whoping 12.69% tax levy increase this past year and another  8.82% proposed for this year!

SUPER MALONEY WANT'S TO HIRE A NEW DEAN OF STUDENTS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL?  We already have three Assistant Principals. Mr. Gural, Mr. Thorley and Mr. Bielberg is receiving a stipend to be the 3rd Assistant Principal.
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!!!

TELL HIM NO!!!

WELFARE FUND - the Fund was established in 1975 to provide health and other welfare benefits to supplement the benefits that are unilaterally provided by the School District to its employees. East Islip is 1 of only 3 districts on Long Island that offes this supplemental benefit!

Eliminate the Welfare Trust Fund and the East Islip School District can fund all sports programs and clubs without any need for fundraising!"

"DO IT FOR THE KIDS! NOT THE UNION!

IT HAS REACHED THE POINT WHERE $$$ FOR EXTRA PERKS AND BENEFITS ARE COMING DIRECTLY OUT OF OUR CHILDRENS' PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES!

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP NOW! BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

STATE AID - The East Islip School District has been leaving State Aid on the table while continually asking you, the community, for more and more each year? Literally over one half of a million dollars of LOST educational dollars!

GRANTS -  The East Islip School District has not actively pursued grants and appropriations for years? (For example, they did not apply for millions of dollars in class size reduction aid, while neighboring districts have received millions of dollars! Additionally, in the last 5 yrs over half a million dollars for computer and technology aid was ignored.

What does a NO vote do?

By voting NO you are expressing a vote of no confidence in the district leadership. You are forcing them to take a long hard look at what they are doing and how they are spending your money.

It's up to them now! They can implement significant belt tightening initiatives or... WE WILL VOTE NO!
